Our Story
Sunrise Home Health was founded in 1988 by M.A. Govender and his wife, Sarah—both compassionate nurses who were recruited to the United States from South Africa and given a one-way ticket to work at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital. Leaving their families behind, they built a new life from the ground up in pursuit of better opportunities for their two sons, Neville and Vernon. With unwavering dedication, humility, and a strong work ethic, M.A. and Sarah began operating the business out of their home, serving only a few patients. Gradually, Govender grew the business by acquiring a larger number of patients and adding services.
After both sons graduated from The University of Texas, they joined the family business in the early 2000s. Following M.A.’s passing, Neville, Vernon and Sarah carried forward his legacy, growing Sunrise into a leading family-owned provider of Home Health care in Dallas and Tarrant counties with 4 locations and caring for 1,500 patients annually

Nearly 40 Years of Caring
For almost 40 years, Sunrise Home Health has been bringing light into the lives and homes of patients. We provide a variety of home health services, which are medical treatments typically provided following illness or injury, We also offer personal attendant services that are considered non-medical to those who qualify. Our clinicians and personal attendants are highly trained and vetted. As a family-owned company, we take our relationships with our patients to heart. At Sunrise we are fully committed to collaborative, compassionate care providers in order to keep our patients out of the hospital and ensure a safe and successful recovery.
